This book dives into the idea of consciousness being primary. The basic stuff of the universe. I really liked the book and it aligns with and expands my own thoughts on the matter. I really liked the ideas showing consciousness as existing prior to the first particle of the big bang. He really gets it here. An excellent read for students of consciousness studies--even if you are not that interested in the subject matter. He makes it very interesting. I have had faith for some time that science will show the existence of God, or what we call God. [Dr.] Close definitely builds a road in this direction with this book! Highly recommended.

Can God be measured in terms of physics and mathematics and therefore be proven to exist? Dr. Close thinks so. Beginning with the premise, based on the Copenhagen Interpretation in quantum mechanics, that "no phenomenon is a real phenomenon until it is observed" (or as Aldous Huxley put it more succinctly, “Consciousness is the ground of all being”), he argues that consciousness must have existed before matter. I would like to think of it as a scientific way of saying, “in the beginning was the Word....”

According to Dr. Close “[This book] discusses the need for a new science that integrates mind and matter. To this end, an adaptation of George Spencer Brown’s Laws of Form is developed. This adaptation, called the Calculus of Distinctions, is capable of describing the interaction of consciousness and matter by placing consciousness in the equations describing reality. Transcendental Physics restores meaning to science and opens the door to rational explanations of the complete spectrum of human experience.”

Lest you think this is heavy reading, Lesly Atlas, New York editor for Harper, wrote, “I wasn't sure it would hold my interest, but it's...wonderful!”

"'Transcendental Physics' [is] a new book which entertains 'the possibility of restoring purpose and meaning to science and society by a radical shift to a transcendental scientific paradigm'. This radical shift turns scientific materialism, the belief that consciousness evolved from energy and matter, on its head"

"'Transcendental Physics' is a rare treat for those who tether their mystical boat to the shores of science... The book is a substantial contribution to the advancement of quantum interpretation and is well written besides. No feeble-minded hocus pocus resides here."

"Edward R. Close, Ph.D. recently published the book, Transcendental Physics (1997). This excellent book provides the next paradigm shift by deriving the fact that consciousness is prior to any materiality. He uses the most basic of mathematics to prove this in an appendix."

"Ed Close has broken the bars and forged a key link in the chain of advancement of mankind for the ages. This book should be read by everyone who seeks to know the truth. It is worth every effort to study and comprehend--even if you have to read it several times. It could change your entire outlook on life forever, and change it for the better."
